Coffee & Art: Mixed Media with Madeleine Gross

by James Reina

Madeleine Gross (@madeleinegross) is a mixed media artist who's imaginative artworks explore the intersection between the abstract and the everyday.

Introduce yourself! Who are you, what floats your boat?

Hi! I’m Madeleine, I’m a mixed media artist. I take photos and paint on them. Currently based in Toronto.

What inspires you, what drives your creativity?

Nature, fantasy, good memories, abstraction vs reality

How does coffee (or any morning ritual) influence your day and creative process?

Coffee is essential in my life, I really look forward to my morning coffee. I usually walk my dog and then pick up a latte in my neighbourhood. It’s a treat for me.

What's the hardest part about being an artist? What's the easiest?

Honestly, shipping artwork internationally can be very difficult. Easiest part? That’s tough.. Not sure if there’s anything easy about it? But doing something you love everyday is fulfilling and feels good.

Why do you love what you do?

It gets me out of my head and I get to create a different reality. I also love to inspire others and hear how they see it or how it makes them feel. Everyone sees things differently, I find it so interesting.

Do you have any advice for aspiring creatives?

Create art that feels right to you.

What's next for you?

I’m participating in a few shows, ArtMarket Hamptons this summer August 12-15 and Context Miami November 30-December 5

Where can we find more of your work?

Madeleinegross.com for limited edition prints, Artstar & Spacey studio for a few selected limited edition prints, and Artsy, Saatchi Art, Artsper for originals.

Thank you!
